What type of life jacket is needed for water skiing?

In Australia PFD (Personal flotation device) type 2 or 3. Type 2 has brighter colors that 3. Type 1 is too bulky, only needed for off shore waters. Neoprene type 2 & 3 suites are the best as they fit nice, but I didnt want to pend the extra money.
