Can a licensed clinical psychologist prescribe and dispense medication?

No. The exception to this rule occurs in two states; Louisiana and New Mexico. In these states, licensed clinical psychologists who have received additional training (somewhere between several hundred and a thousand hours or so) in medical and pharmacological aspects, may prescribe psychotropic medication.
