How do you simply 6 to the power of 5 over 6 to the power of 3?

6^5/6^3

exponent on top subtract exponent on bottom and factor, 6, is eliminated on bottom

5 - 3 = 2

= 6^2

You can do this on a calculator just as shown ( My TI-84 does this ) and get 36, which is 6^2.
