Gastric bypass surgery is a procedure that decreases the size of the stomach to limit the amount of food that is eaten. Some of the risks of the surgery include the stomach returning to its original size, the breakdown of the gastric band and staples, leakage of stomach contents into the abdomen causing damage to other organs and the possibility of nutritional deficiency.
