The frilled shark (Chlamydoselachus anguineus) primarily inhabits the deep-sea environments, typically found at depths ranging from 120 to 1,500 meters (about 394 to 4,921 feet). This species is often associated with the bathyal zone, which lies between the continental shelf and the abyssal zone. Its preference for deep waters makes it less commonly encountered by divers and fishermen.
