I just listened to a version read on YouTube:The Mouse with the Question Mark Tail - Audiobook
What a delightful story!
.
I'd say there are a fair number of challenging Words for lower grade levels. But most Words in the story will be easily understood through the story itself.
As you know, "hard" Words are only "hard" when you do not know the Words! As soon as you know a Word, it stops being a "hard" Word! So, when reading, have pencil and paper beside you. When you come upon a "hard" Word, write it on the paper with the page number so you can ask your teacher, parents, or look it up in a dictionary. Practice saying it out loud. Practice spelling it. Once you know what the "hard" Word means, go back to the page and re-read the sentence. Ask yourself how knowing the Word changes how you now understand the sentence much better!
