How do you remove DVD red security tags without having to go back to the shop or buy a really strong magnet?

and without totally destroying the case?? =D just use a blunt knife to pop it open and then you'll have to squeeze the tabs together really tightly to take out the DVD (this might break your nails! =D ) and then stick the knife under the red bar to pop it out from under the tabs and the edge of the case, and then it should just pull out!

it might take a bit of time and patience, but it should work! and obviously should only be used for stuff you've actually bought!! =)

Or .. if you have 'snipe nose' pliers available insert carefully either side of visible tag and lever side to side until it breaks off. Then the case can be opened and use same pliers carefully to lever two halves of DVD retaining spindle together to remove the DVD. The remaining red clip can be levered slightly up from the case half to allow it to be slid free. With care you should have an intact case left :-)
