+Control Pad left/right: Steer

A Button: Accelerate

B Button: Brake when moving forward; reverse if not moving forward

Hold A+B buttons and +Control Pad left/right: Turn in place

X Button or L Button: Use items; drop bananas or fake item boxes; throw Bob-Ombs or shells

Hold +Control Pad Up while pressing X or L: Throw items ahead

Hold +Control Pad Down while pressing X or L: Drop items behind

Y Button or tap the Touch Screen: Change Touch Screen view

R Button: Hop

Hold R Button while turning: Drift

START button: Pause the game

SELECT button: Turn on or off the kart path display in time trial; inflate balloons in balloon battle

Mic: Inflate balloons in balloon battle
