How do you respond to someone being patronizing?

I feel put down and spoken to even harshly. I feel as if I made myself vulnerable to someone who has much more power especially if a generous millionaire while I too have been making my contributions wiithout hestitation to a cause we all had to fund to get things to start up)-- but without anywhere near the same resources available to me.
