Nadir Shah was an 18th-century Persian ruler and military leader, born in 1688. He rose to power after seizing control of Persia in 1736, declaring himself Shah and expanding his empire through a series of military campaigns, most notably the invasion of India in 1739, where he captured Delhi and looted vast treasures. His reign marked the decline of the Safavid dynasty and significant turmoil in the region, leading to his eventual assassination in 1747. Nadir is often remembered for his military prowess as well as his brutal tactics.
