What happens if you take the eye piece off a rifle scope?

Someone will be vexed with you in all likelihood. You may damage the cross hairs or the adjustment mechanism, you may get one or more of the lenses dirty or out of place, and the scope is not usable without the eyepiece. Many scopes are filled with dry nitrogen gas to prevent fogging up on the inside in temperature changes, and you may cause that gas to leak out.
