Which factors cause poverty in low income nations?

There are a large number of factors that contribute to poverty in the world. One major factor is the lack of rainfall that can effect the production of food crops. Another factor can be the way a nation's government operates the economy. Collective systems look great on paper, but often times do not meet the food needs of any given nation. These are just but two factors that effect poverty.
