Narwhals primarily hunt fish, squid, and shrimp, diving to depths of up to 1,500 meters (about 4,920 feet) in search of their prey. They use echolocation to locate food in the dark, deep waters of the Arctic. Although individual hunting success can vary, a narwhal may consume around 10-20 kilograms (22-44 pounds) of food daily, depending on availability and energy needs.
