On your web browser (internet explorer, anyway) at the top of the page you will see the Word Tools. Click on that. Then click Internet Options from the menu that drops down. Right in the middle you will see Delete Cookies. While you are in there, next to it you will see delete temporary internet files. You should delete those too. These are all the files for every site you ever visited, and there are probably half a million clogging up your system, so get rid of those regularly...read on. (it will take a minute or two, depending on when you last (never?) did this)

While you are at it, go to the bottom and change the number of days to keep files in memory to 2.

Now go to the Advanced tab and go all the way down to Security. Put a check in the box that says something like Delete all temporary files folder when browser is closed. CLICK APPLY! Then all those junk files will disappear everytime you shut your browser down or reboot or whatever.

Edit: You can also get to cookies from C:\Documents and Settings"inputusernamehere"

Cookies will be in a folder it's not a hidden folder so don't worry about that. Double click on it and delete everything inside there. And as for history and temporary internet files it's not as bad as you might think. But I agree occassional cleanouts are good.
