A dead family member cannot haunt you. You cannot communicate with them because they cannot hear you. Why? Because they are dead. They are dead and consious of nothing. Asleep in death. We do not have eternal souls that live after we die. This is why The Bible warns against divination or seances because the dead cannot respond. Satan or demons can respond and they can easily mimic dead relatives to get people to believe it is them.
