they had red uniforms.

The question is what colour are the uniforms not what they had. They still use the red uniforms in some regiments, mainly footguards and some bands. The current uniform on operations for the British army is Multi-Terrain Pattern or MTP which is a new hybrid camouflage pattern designed to work in both desert and green areas of Afghanistan. The other more common pattern is Disruptive Pattern Material which comes in a 4 colour green and a 4 colour dessert pattern. The ceremonial uniforms differ from regiment to regiment and some put a unique touch to the common number 2 uniform (such as dark green trousers for the Royal Irish Regiment) which is a suit style uniform in a olive green(ish) colour. Regiments also have a number 1 ceremonial uniform which also differs from regiment to regiment but is mainly a dark blue colour.
