No not at all! In fact, many former film students say that they didn't truly learn the craft until after college. This is because there just isn't the repetitive practice in a 2 month course on the skill that is needed to hone your skills. In an academic setting, you are taught the principles in an accelerated way. It's up to you to learn what these principles truly mean when applied to real-world screenwriting.
Consider Quentin Tarantino had no formalized training in screenwriting. At least not in college.
Specifically getting into a career in screenwriting involves writing a great screenplay. If you write a great screenplay then there are multiple ways to break in to the industry. Screenwriting is a skill that can be self-taught. There are several books on the craft that do a very good job in teaching screenwriting. However, in more technical careers such as architecture, a degree is relevant.
