Taxes on ANY business -- small or large -- are based upon NET profit from the business.

I have done the books for several small businesses. Some of them GROSSED around $1 million per year however most of them netted less than $100k after business expenses. And one, a used car dealer, grossed around $5 million per year yet the owner struggled to net $50k. EVERY one of those businesses would benefit from the tax cuts in the Obama tax plan.

If you run a small business, look at line 31 of the Schedule C on your tax return. THAT is the amount that you'll be taxed on.

Reading some of these answers, it's painfully obvious that there are MANY Americans who have no idea how business finances operate or how Business Taxes are calculated. The Romney campaign appears to be trying to capitalize on that -- a SAD state of affairs
