How can religion influence the government?

Religion should play no part in lawmaking, although those who make the law may in some cases feel guided by their personal religious beliefs. Laws should be made for all people in the community, and can reflect the moral and ethical values of the entire community, without imposing specific religious values on those who do not follow the dominant religion of the community.
