Why is it not suitable to wear rings with stones in a hospital setting?

possible infection caused by microscopic bugs getting inbetween the ring and stones. Also for swelling due to needles in the hand could cause the hand to swell which is a risk for the digits and the ring . So its safer to remove the ring
