Are proper names connotative

In most cases, proper names are not connotative. Sometimes a person is named after another person, a family member, a respected friend, an admired stranger, etc. But the connotation is not obvious unless you are told that a name is connected to someone or something else (unless of course the person's name includes 'Jr.').
