What social study skill is important because it alllows historians to sequence events?

Skills need to place historical events in time sequence require the use of available written resources. Historians can also conduct their own independent research to uncover new documentation never seen by previous historians. One example of ancient sources of information may turn out to be ones that have been known about but not deemed relevant to write about.
