How long was Ernest Shackletons crew trapped for?

Ernest Shackleton's crew was trapped on the Antarctic ice for approximately 10 months. They became stranded in January 1915 when their ship, the Endurance, was trapped and ultimately crushed by pack ice in the WedDELL Sea. The crew camped on the ice until they could make a daring escape in April 1916. Their ordeal continued as they journeyed across the ice and open water before finally reaching safety in August 1916.
