She did not have a belief of any New Testament doctrine and was therefore not a Christian ; but apparently like many early 19th century socialists, she did ascribe to a sort of primitive belief that there is an order in the world and it is beautiful. She apparently did not believe that this order regulated one's personal vices ; but in general prescribed a motherly way of being kind to people. Her socialism arose from her view of charity and need to replace Christ. She was typical of disillusioned people after the butchery of WWI which was , of course, blamed on God and not on Pride.
She had morals; but had really lost any reason to have them except for her former training as a Christian. Similary her femininty today which seemed so liberated in her time would be considered terribly oppressed. She wore dresses and probably never advocated abolishing men.
