In The Odyssey who was Mentor?

Mentor was a old man that Odysseus left in charge of managing the kingdom when he was gone. He is Odysseus' friend and literal mentor, and is well-respected, so much so that gods often impersonated him. Mentor was also responsible for Telemachus' education.
