How did people survive during the wall street crash?

Many survived by holding on to their investments. They had enough cash reserves to hold on to their stocks and they sold it off only in a profit. while many survived by selling off their holdings once the crash started.

but not many were lucky enough to survive unscathed. almost everyone incurred losses.
