How are the green and white mountains different?

This is exactly the same question my son in 4th grade Social Studies was asked on his test review sheet.

1. They are both located in the Northeast is one answer.

The Appalachian Mountain Range starts in Canada and runs to Alabama. This range is made up of many smaller ranges. So, the second way the White Mountains are similar to the Green Mountains are:

2. Both the White and the Green are part of 3 main ranges (Catskill mountain would be the 3rd).

So the White Mountains and the Green Mountains are similar in that they are a part of the 3 main ranges.

This was the answer I had to come up with for my sons Social Studies paper.
