The Bucharest treaty was a treaty between Serbia , Montenegro , Bulgaria , Greece & Romania .
When Albania got its independence from the Ottoman empire , Macedonia had revolted against The Ottomans .The map bellow shows in pink the Ottoman empire after ww1and its Balkan empire before ww1 in purple:
- The rebellion would have been succesfull had Greece not invaded . After the Ottomans were weakened ,Bulgaria , Montenegro and then finally Serbia and Albania invaded . Montenegro was only worried about freeing the rest of its country from occupation . So was Albania at first , but by the time they started , all they had time to take of Macedonia was Mala Prespa . As the Greeks marched across Macedonia , they mad no attempt to hide the fact that their main objective was to seize Macedonia & Thrace , and kill all of the native Macedonians and Thracians so that they no longer existed as a race .Bulgaria saw Macedonians as Bulgarians , so they saw it as liberating their homeland .Serbia saw it as liberating their slavic brothers , as well as becoming the dominant power in the Balcans . Bulgaria being its competitor . For Bulgaria and Serbia , the next phase was preparation for WW1 , but for Greece , its motives were violence and Imperialism. Macedonia , Iperos Thrace and even Thessaly were original settled on and are the homeland of the Macedonians , Thracians , Thessalians and Albanians . Other then the Albanians who had a powerful military and could resist , all of these ethnic groups were massacred by the Greeks , and in the case of the Thessalians they were completely successful in this , and when it came to the Thracians , most were killed , the rest were usually culturally assimilated by the Turks in Thrace after WW1. The next phase of the 1st Balkan war was a joint operation by Rommania , Serbia and Greece to invaid Bulgaria . The war endd with the border changes on the map shown bellow:
