Murray (born November 21, 1869 in Collinsville, Texas; died July 15, 1956 in Tishomingo, Oklahoma) succeeded William Holloway as the ninth Governor of Oklahoma, serving between January 12, 1931 and January 15, 1935. Following the end of Murray's term as Governor, Ernest W. Marland (born May 8, 1874 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; died October 3, 1941 in Ponca City, Oklahoma) became the tenth Governor of Oklahoma, serving between January 15, 1935 and January 9, 1939.
