What is the mortal pestel?

A mortar and pestle are used to grind something into a fine powder. They have uses in both medicine (pharmacology) and cooking. Liquid solutions of certain prescribed medicines start with compounds that are crystals and must be ground to a powder to put in the final mixture. The use in cooking is similar.
