What would happen if people didn't hunt?

Contrary to misguided beliefs, if you stopped hunting, animal populations would grow to the ex stint to where there would be a food shortage and animals would starve and then start getting disease's and die. Also with such animals like deer, when they get over populated they start destroying crops that are used to feed people.
