How does the use of free will relate to accountability?

People have free will to make decisions in their life. In life, there are always choices. However, you may not always like the choices presented to you. Each person has to take responsibility for their own actions.

For example, If a girlfriend cheats on you. That was her decision to make and she has to be held accountable for it.
