Sometime in the 1880s, Prof. Heinrich Hertz succeeding in generating long-wave
electromagnetic radiation and then detecting it all the way over on the other side
of the laboratory, without wires. Having had a great day, he didn't want to let
anything spoil it, so he took the phone off the hook, flipped off the light, listened
to the 11:00 news, and went to sleep.
