Who was Felipe Poey?

Felipe Poey (1799–1891) was a prominent Cuban naturalist and zoologist known for his contributions to the study of marine life and herpetology in the Caribbean. He is most recognized for his extensive work on the fauna of Cuba, including the publication of "Historia Natural de la Isla de Cuba," which detailed various species found on the island.
