This is the reason why starvation "diets" are so terribly ineffective and horrible for your body.
When people starve themselves, your body enters, plainly named, starvation mode. In starvation mode, your body will store up as much fat as possible in order to insulate against what it believes will be a long period without food. This is a very primitive reaction to starvation- your body thinks that because you are not eating, there is no food because it is winter, therefore you must store fat as heat insulation. Your body will then turn to muscle as its primary food source.
When you finally cannot take it anymore and binge on fatty foods, what does your body absorb? Bingo- the fat. It is still in starvation mode, taking in all the available fat to make sure that you don't die.
That said, it is much more effective to eat a balanced diet of fruits, veggies, protein, and whole grains, and to exercise for a half-hour three to five times per week. It is obviously not healthy to starve yourself, and doing so will only make you not only weaker, but your body will appear flabbier and just terrible. Toned muscle is so much more healthier looking and attractive than skin and bones.
