As I recall, "Hold the front pixels" appeared in an article of the Economist a few weeks ago. There, the weekly contends the launch of the i-pad won't mean a long-sought silver bullet for the struggling media companies. Meanwhile, you often say 'hold the front page' when you want to mean, 'wait a second, this might not be the perfect candidate for the front page (of a newspaper)'. The author probably wanted to mean that for media companies to take the plunge into the tablet business by, say, making their content digitally available on i-Pad and other tablet PCs could be a mistake. So, basically, 'hold the front pixels' means 'hold it! don't rush to adopt the digital format just yet'.
