Medals will be awarded for 302 events, but since they are many teams of 2 or more individuals there will be many more medals awarded than the 906 difference medal awards. There are also events where 2 bronze medals are awarded instead of having a playoff for the metal. The 42 rowing metals for the 14 rowing events will be given to 138 individuals from winning pairs and teams. They actually made 10,000 medals.
