How do you take a picture of a dog that doesn't want to look at the camera?

turn it off flash so it doesn't burn their eyes, hold up a treat,call their name, and take the picture

One way I've found with pets (cats especially, but it works fairly well with dogs too) is to wait until the animal decides to do what you want it to. It takes a bit longer, but your sitting quietly doesn't upset your subject, and learning patience is something every photographer needs.
