The longest tornado path ever recorded was 219 miles (352 kilometers). This path belonged to the infamous Tri-State tornado which tore a path of destruction across parts of Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana on March 18, 1925. The tornado also has the longest duration (3.5 hours) and fastest forward speed (73 mph or 117 km/h) as well as the highest death toll of any U.S. tornado (695). The tornado is also believed to have been an F5 on the Fujita scale.
