1. It is a crime, you could be fined or sent to jail.
2. If anyone gets hurt, you can be sued as well as being fined and sent to jail.
3. Any false alarm costs money, you could be required to pay for the wasted time.
4. False alarms can delay response to an actual emergency, causing damage and injuries to be worse than if the fire department had been there earlier.
5. Repeated false alarms are annoying and people will start to ignore the alarms, meaning they can be hurt if there is a real alarm later and they do not react quickly enough.
6. There may be rules at the school or at the office that prohibit false alarms and you could be expelled or fired from your job.
7. Any 9-1-1 call, especially a hangup call, is assumed to be an emergency until it can be proven otherwise and it could tie up emergency responders while they try to track down the source of the call to make sure nobody is in danger.
