What is medical hand washing?

A procedure before commencing patient contact in order to remove as many organisms from the hands as possible, performed in a special way to avoid spreading the organisms during washing. An antimicrobial wash is usually used, paper towels and taps with long, extendable handles to be closed with the elbow.
