If you'd like to switch from Depo Provera to the Birth Control pill, you can start the pill anytime after the 10th week of Depo Provera, up until the last day Depo was due, with no interruption in pregnancy protection. There is no need to wait until the first period after Depo Provera; doing so puts you at risk of pregnancy. If you start later than 15 weeks after the last shot, you should use a backup method of birth control, like condoms or abstinence from vaginal sex, until you've taken seven pills correctly.
