The Germans primary reasons for invading the Netherlands were two: 1) To exterminate it's Jews, and 2) To use the country's food and fuel for the Reich. Shortages of many things began right after the country was conquered by the Germans. Ordinary Dutch citizens were surviving on boiled tulip bulbs to keep from starving.
