PRE-HISPANIC CEBU
Cebu was called Zebu, Sugbo and Zubu before the Spaniards came in 1521. It was a fishing village and a trading post with people from as far as Siam, China, Arabia and Malay islands coming to trade. People's houses were made of cut timber and had nipa shingles as roof.
