Can you serve jail time for failure to appear if an arrest warrant was issued?

Well, to the best of my knowledge, if an arrest warrant was issued, all it means is that you are to be arrested. However, since you may not be aware, you cannot be punished.

Having said that, if you are avoiding arrest, it may classify as obstructing justice, and you can be punished, depending on where you live.
