Is volume the height or depth of voice?

while many people believe it is volume whether volume descends or ascends it is actually a mixture of both depth and volume. The reason why it is depth is simply because of how strong the volume is. Depth has more to do with you're listening. For example if you are listening to a tv versus someone speaking to you. The person speaking to you will have more depth due to the fact that they are easier to hear and they are within a shorter range of distance.
