Who is over department of defense?

The Department of Defense (DoD) is overseen by the Secretary of Defense, who is a member of the President's Cabinet. As of my last update, the Secretary of Defense is Lloyd J. Austin III. The Secretary is responsible for coordinating and supervising all agencies and functions of the government related to national security and the armed forces.
