Chicago and Hollywood are the places where L Frank Baum wrote stories.
Specifically, author and Oz series originator Lyman Frank Baum (May 15, 1856 - May 6, 1919) moved from New York to South Dakota to Illinois to California. It was when he relocated to Chicago, Illinois that he became serious about writing stories for children. Because of his interest in the early film industry, he settled down in the Hollywood area, continued to write and concomitantly began a career as film producer.
