80-85% are of African descent(Although some may have indigenous ancestry due to the island's history) The remaining 15-20% are of mixed heritage.

Some Haitians may possess German, Portuguese, Italian, Polish, Spanish, British or French ancestry. Some may also possess Armenian, Arab(Lebanese, Syrian) or Jewish ancestry. There is also a considerable amount of those with Palestinian ancestry. There is a small population of those who possess East Asian ancestry(Chinese, Japanese) and East Indian ancestry.
