Where did Hardy Boys stories take place?

The Hardy Boys lived in the fictional town of Bayport on Barmet Bay. The characters were created in 1927 and have evolved several times. There is no such person as Franklyn Dixon, Edward L. Stratemeyer, wrote the plot outlines and hired ghost writers.
